file cabinets Buyer’s Guide
Lateral Files
Lateral files are wide and shallow. Normally, files go in left to right, but with crossfile hang rails, you can change the configuration to front-to-back. Because they’re shallow, lateral files are great when you need a lot of filing in a not-so-deep space and they can hold a lot more than vertical files.
HON 683LQ
They’re also versatile because they can hold letter or legal size files. Widths range from 30 to 4inches and you’ll normally find them in heights ranging from two to five drawers. A two drawer lateral fits perfectly under a standard height work surface. Five drawer files may come with a posting shelf. Lateral files offer a variety of drawer pulls as well as receding door options.
Vertical Files
Vertical files are narrow. They are the perfect choice when there isn’t a lot of available wall space, but they’re not good for aisles because the drawers are deep and extend out a significant distance when opened. They hold fewer files than lateral files do. Like lateral files, you can get verticals in two, three, four or five drawers, with or without locks. Vertical files come in either letter or legal size, but can’t do both like lateral files. Two drawer styles are typically used at desks or workstations for every day use.
STX 61310B01C
Metal cabinets are common for long-term storage areas and may be less expensive than some of the other material options. Executive office areas may have laminate, wood veneer or solid wood cabinets. Laminate and wood veneer both give the look of solid wood, but without the cost.
Now that we’ve covered the basics, let’s move to another category: shelf files.
Shelf Files
The last shelf file I want to show you is a roll-out shelf file. These are designed not only for end tab files, but also for hanging files and three-ring binder filing. The shelves roll out on heavy-duty ball-bearing suspensions.
Drawer Lateral File Cabinet
When you need the safety and security of your files but have a lot less space to store them, using the two drawer lateral file cabinets is the best option. Not only would you be able to enjoy the security of the documents, but the longevity of the filing cabinet is undisputed.
Drawer File Cabinet
For people that have robustness in their mind when selecting a filing cabinet, going for the drawer file cabinet is an obvious choice. With three drawers, you have a lot more space to keep your files, will at the same time getting appropriate protection for the safety and security of your files in question.
Protection Of Documents
By having filing cabinets with locks, you not only prevent intruders from getting their hands on your valuable documents, but ensuring that other people with prying eyes do not look at it. Most of the documents that you have would either be sensitive in terms of your work, or they could have some sort of sentimental value. They may be documents that are necessary for the submission of applications or even for licensing. Whatever be the necessity of those documents, filing cabinets with the lock will definitely deter miscreants from accessing it.
Maintaining Privacy
In this age of competitiveness, company espionage is no longer a term that is merely phone around; it actually has a basis in fact. So, it is at this particular age that you need to provide appropriate security to your documents so that they do not fall into the wrong hands. Information about private features within your company could end up creating problems for you down the line.
Features
Hon provides you with a steel file cabinet, which has vertical reinforcements. Your high-security documents are well looked after. This is thanks to the double-walled front kick plate of the cabinet. If ever you will need to replace locks, Hon has your back. When such a need arises, you will be able to change them without any frustration.
Alera Drawer Late Aleral File Cabinets
You will get a drawer depth of 19.2inches with this file cabinet. If you want storage for letter or legal-size files, then you are in the right place. This drawer file cabinet will easily accommodate them, because of its side-to-side hang rails. You won’t have to worry about the drawer getting stuck. It easily glides open, thanks to its steel ball bearing slide suspension.
Lorell 14341Deep 2-Drawer File Cabinet
The Lorell 1434also has an elegant look to it. Being constructed from steel gives it numerous advantages. Using it on a daily basis, won’t cause it to eventually malfunction. It has been built to withstand such frequent abuse without deteriorating. The drawers have glide suspension and are also designed to be high size.

AbilityOne™ Medium Folders ders are excellent for long-term file storage, especially in moist or damp environments. These folders are designed to resist the growth of mildew, molds, and bacteria that can damage or compromise the contents of the folder.
Screen Size and Resolution
From tiny 2″ keychain frames to 35″ monsters, there’s no shortage of options when it comes to the frame’s screen size. Larger-sized products are usually hung on the walls, while smaller 7-1inch frames usually look best on a shelve or even on a kitchen table. Most common frame display sizes are 7″, 8″, 10″, 12″ and 15″, but some manufacturers make beautiful large scale frames often hitting 25″ and even 35″.
Built-in Battery
Nixplay 18.inch has a beautiful large screen, high-resolution screen (although with a 16:aspect ratio, which might mean small black borders on the photos taken in a 4:aspect ratio), a motion sensor and a WiFi module, which means you will be able to email pictures to the frame, use a smartphone app, as well as connect the farame to a number of online social platforms (Dropbox, Facebook, Instagram, etc.).
Amadou Diallo
After 1hours of research and testing, we think the 10-inch Nixplay Seed is the best digital photo frame for most people who want to display pictures uploaded wirelessly from their smartphones, hard drives, or social media and cloud storage accounts. Its superior display and simple setup lift it above the competition. And since you can send photos to the frame via Nixplay’s cloud services or email, or indirectly through a shared Dropbox folder, if you give one as a gift you can share photos with the recipient even if they happen to be halfway across the world.
We’ve added a Flaws but not dealbreakers section below to mention that neither of our photo-frame picks can support automatic importing of photos from cloud-based shared folders.
Great features and easy to use
The Nixplay Seed’s high-resolution IPS display offers pleasing colors and a wide viewing angle, so your images look great from every corner of the room. The panel’s 4:aspect ratio means it can display your smartphone photos full screen, without black borders, and you can position it in either portrait or landscape orientation. Step-by-step instructions on the Nixplay website make connecting the frame to your Wi-Fi network and uploading images quick and foolproof. Those images can come from your phone or computer, as well as from social media and cloud storage accounts such as Instagram or Dropbox. A motion sensor lets you conserve energy by putting the display to sleep after you leave the room. Using a cleverly designed semirigid USB power cable that doubles as a stand, the Seed can sit in either portrait or landscape orientation at a range of angles.
Why you should trust me
I’ve covered photo gear at The Wirecutter since 2013, and I’ve worked as a professional photographer and digital-imaging consultant for 1years. I also ran my own digital-printmaking shop for a nearly a decade, producing exhibition-quality photographs on wide-format inkjet printers. I’m on the faculty of New York City’s International Center of Photography, and I lead photography workshops around the country.
In preparing this guide we brought in eight digital photo frames for side-by-side comparisons and real-world use in my home.
How we picked and tested
We brought in eight frames for several days of use in a home environment.
Using these criteria we had only frames to consider, eight of which we brought in for testing. Some, such as the Micca Neo, were plagued by poor screen quality. Others, like the very expensive Aura Frame, were frustrating to use. For a closer look at what we dismissed and why, see The competition.
Onto each frame, I loaded identical sets of images shot on cameras ranging from smartphones to DSLRs. I compared image quality, functionality, and ease of use while working with the frames for several days in various rooms of my home.
Pull Quote
Setup is quick and foolproof, and built-in Wi-Fi lets you import photos from your social media, email, or cloud accounts.
We tested the 10-inch version of the Seed (7- and 8-inch models are also available) and found that its IPS display produced pleasingly accurate results along with a wide viewing angle, ensuring that images looked great from every corner of the room. The screen’s 4:aspect ratio is a perfect match for smartphone (and Micro Four Thirds) camera sensors, which means your images can display across the entire screen. Sensors in DSLRs and many mirrorless cameras have the slightly different 3:aspect ratio, so those images will have a black border along two sides. The mismatch is subtle enough, however, that we think some people won’t even notice it. In any case, this display is a better fit than what you’d get on a frame with a 16:aspect ratio.
Images shot with DSLRs and mirrorless APS-C cameras have a 3:aspect ratio, so unless you crop them you’ll get thin black borders (like those shown here) along two sides of the screen.
Flaws but not dealbreakers
Nixplay frames do not support automatic slideshows from shared folders. If you have a shared folder on Dropbox, you still need to transfer the files into your playlist manually, using the Nixplay site or app to see them—they won’t automatically appear on your frame. On one hand, that’s one more step to get your photos to a place where the grandparents will actually see them. On the other, it stops the slideshow from being overwhelmed by 1,000 almost identical photos of the Alaskan cruise a cousin went on last year.
Unfortunately, syncing with shared Google Photos folders is nonexistent. In this case you’ll have to manually move the images to a nonshared folder for which you have ownership permissions. Nixplay says it is aware of the incompatibility but points to Google’s lack of API support for shared folders, so we don’t expect a solution anytime soon. Instead, we recommend using Dropbox for uploading shared-folder photos to your Nixplay frame.
Many readers have told us they would like to have the option of setting a shared cloud-based folder to automatically populate their photo frame. Right now the only way to make that work is to have someone email files to the Nixplay address you receive when you create your user account.
The lack of Wi-Fi means you’ll be loading images via SD card slot or USB port. The Advance has no built-in storage like our top and budget picks, but Nixplay helpfully includes an GB USB stick to get you going. If you’re a Mac owner, note that you should format SD cards in your camera rather than your computer in order for the Advance to read them, and if you use your own USB stick, it should be in the MS-DOS (FAT) format.
The Nixplay Advance has ports for an SD card, a USB stick, and headphones. Nixplay includes an GB USB stick, shown here.
What to look forward to
Ever Frames has posted specs for an upcoming 8-inch Q-Series frame with an LED display, internal storage, and built-in Wi-Fi. Music and video files are supported, as well. As of this writing the company has not released pricing or availability beyond “coming soon.” We’ll update this guide when we know more.
What it does
The beginning of the process involves importing your images into Picturesqe, which sends thumbnails to its servers to create groups and then determine which pictures are the best of each group.
Picturesqe is a desktop application that runs on PC and Mac platforms, using support from the cloud to run its more power-intensive tasks. Once installed the program invites the user to import images either from an external source, such as a memory card, or from files already stored on the hard drive. As images are imported they are analyzed so that they can be formed into groups of similar-looking images and then arranged in order so that the best frames of each group are positioned at the top left of the screen.
The process of grouping and ordering is done via an algorithm that exists in the cloud – or Picturesqe’s servers – so thumbnail images are sent from your machine for inspection and the information gleaned returns to Earth to inform the arrangement of images in the Picturesqe user window.
The research program
At the export stage the first option in the navigation is to send the images to Picturesqe’s research program. The company wants users to send images that have been rated by humans so that it can compare the ‘right’ ranking and grouping with the way the software performed. The idea is that the company can study the differences and similarities and develop algorithms that select and grade more like the user does.
Why you need antivirus
Unless you’ve got some sort of security software installed, your Windows PC or laptop is vulnerable to viruses, malware and ransomware. The latter is particularly important right now, given that a second huge ransomware attack of 201has hit the headlines: Petya follows WannaCry, which earlier this year hit huge organisations including the NHS.
Zero day attacks
Although the primary concern is to block malware so it doesn’t install on your PC in the first place, there isn’t an internet security suite made which is 100 percent effective. Worthwhile IS and antivirus software should also detect so-called ‘zero day’ attacks, where the malware is so new it hasn’t yet been analysed or had ‘signatures’ built into IS protection routines.
Newly-installed software can be monitored, looking for suspicious activity and can then be prevented from potentially damaging actions, such as changing registry entries, or installing as a browser add-in. Ransomware can also be identified by unexpected attempts to encrypt your files.
McAfee Total Protection 2017
The major components to Total Protection are the antivirus scanner and web/email protection. The scanner is billed as award-winning and is certainly up there with the best of the signature-based scanners. Nowadays, however, more protection is required.
File Lock is a data vault like most others. It will password-protect your valuable files against stealthy Trojans, ransomware, and local prying eyes. The associated shredder will ensure that the files you delete stay deleted. There are options to shred the recycle bin, temporary internet files, or you can choose your own files.
AVG Ultimate
There are problems, however. The integrated VPN is actually HideMyAss. Despite seeming to be free, this is just a trial.
Also, on a default Windows installation, clicking the Web TuneUp button resulted in a message that the default browser (Microsoft Edge) is incompatible, and that it is only available for Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome.
Panda Free Antivirus 2017
Click a process and you can see its details and also block it immediately from running ever again. Like some paid solutions, Panda can also block new executables until information about their reputation has been received from the cloud.
It can be hard to keep track of all the data
This might be because you’re trying to search inside the contents of a file. By default, Windows won’t look at the internals of every single file when performing your search. However, there is a way to enable this.
HON 3Series Vertical File Cabinet
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is available now as part of Adobe’s Creative Cloud package, so you get it along with full Photoshop for a fee each month.
DxO Optics Pro 10
In terms of a complete Raw editing solution, it’s hard to better DxO Optics pro. Not only does the software offer extensive tools to aid the Raw conversion process, but it also boasts a range of high-end tools to aid the improvement of image quality.
DxO Optics also features a range of tailored lens correction plug-ins which recognise the lens used and correct the images accordingly for any known flaws.
The latest version includes “PRIME denoising technology” which is designed to reduce the amount of noise in a shot, without smoothing out detail. Those who like to shoot in low light should find this particularly beneficial. The software is also 4x faster than the previous version.
SATA speed constraints
The 850 Pro’s ratings and renown sit atop this segment of the market for a number of reasons. Likely the one most worth mentioning is that this model is currently the speediest SATA SSD that’s available to consumers. Before its lower-end sibling the Evo arrived, this model was the first consumer-oriented model champion 3D-based V-NAND flash. Although its NAND implementation is 40nm in a 32-layer vertical structure, it isn’t specified with TLC planar but rather with 2-bit MLC flash. Thus the SLC working-cache isn’t necessary, and somewhat higher SSD capacity is made available, but the use of costlier V-NAND parts results in pricier models than those of Samsung’s rivals.
It’s a bit hard to justify paying so much for even this best-performing model, though. Under most of the actual conditions which gamers will face, they will find relatively small advantages in choosing a Pro over an Evo, or another budget model. For one thing, it’s priced much higher in absolute terms. We believe the difference in pricing would be best applied towards a more powerful discrete graphics card or GPU, or perhaps additional system RAM. Reapplying that savings difference might also let you afford an SSD with double the capacity of the Pro that is still blazingly fast. The 256GB version of Samsung’s Pro series is already priced higher than the 480GB version of Silicon Power’s S5series, while former’s 512GB version is also priced more than the latter’s massive 960GB model.
Buyers putting together an extreme gaming station with the best performance and features at any price will likely find an NVMe model a better investment. The 850 Pro’s warranty does extend to a very nice ten years of coverage, its one great benefit. The 256GB model is good for a daily write average of 40GB during its ten-year coverage, or about 150 Terabytes total, which should be more than sufficient for regular use.
If some professional gear is what you’re searching for, you may consider that today’s fastest flash storage will likely be tomorrow’s low-end or obsolete equipment, whether it lasts under warranty or not. And no matter how long the coverage is, it will only extend to replacements of defective equipment and not the loss and recovery of data. You must continue to do timely backups of all critical files just the same.
Testing SSDs
Among the most critical aspects in choosing between model, factors are the cost per GB of capacity. You should ask yourself, what will it be worth spending in order to maintain a large and ready selection of Steam titles available for play at any time? To answer this question, we surveyed the market to discover the best SSD models to suit the needs and desires of gamers. We then selected those with the best performance and quality and tested them to their limits with several benchmark utilities.
And it’s not just the technical side. We installed and put the drives through their paces to gain first-hand experience with how these devices work out to satisfy our computing needs over time. We reviewed only SATA SSD models in the 2.5-inch form factor, the standard internal types which the majority of enthusiasts are most aware of.
We didn’t look at more advanced flash technologies in the form of M.and PCI Express 3.0 devices which can perform much faster and are now becoming available. For that next-generation level of storage performance, you’ll have to look at the latest NVMe models.
Those who can afford the latest motherboards featuring M.slots with 4x PCIe 3.0 lanes should be looking at an NVMe drive at the highest end of the market. Although the Samsung 850 Pro’s performance remains a high point in SATA storage, the older connection technology which it represents can constrain throughput on this latest generation of consumer SSDs.
Test Rig
For testing, we set up a fast PC based on an Intel Core i7-6700K/Asus Z170-A board in combination with 16GB of DDRRAM and an NVidia GTX970 GPU, for some hardcore test gaming. All drives were attached to the onboard Intel SATA 3.0 ports with AHCI enabled and with Windows installed and running on the primary system partition. A mix of synthetic and application benchmark suites was applied, including CrystalDiskMark and AS SSD as well as PCMark 8, which runs standardized sets of phased traces of common editing and gaming applications.
SATA SSD Technologies
The particular advantage of SSDs which lets them enable much speedier computing experiences is their much shorter random-access times. Their theoretically higher sustained transfer rates also contribute to their faster performance. A traditional hard drive relies on mechanical parts to stream data on and off a spinning disk, whereas with SSDs the same files are written to and read directly from electronic memory.
It’s true that current mechanical models are still remarkably fast and unbeatable on a cost per GB basis. But the 10-millisecond random-access times of even the fastest 10,000rpm storage disk is an order of magnitude below that of primary flash storage, which normally operates at rates nearer to tenths of a millisecond. SSDs, in contrast, are mechanically simple devices, fabricated from stacked arrays of flash memory integrated circuits and supervised by a control module comprised of a processor and cache. It’s the organization of the structure which is incredibly complex and demanding to design and manufacture.
NAND flash memory ICs retain binary data in non-volatile areas as variations in voltages, even when electrically powered off. Thus to alter the value of one cell by clearing then rewriting its electrical state, its voltage must be increased. Due to the linear arrangement of the cells’ layout, these changes must be performed on a per-cell basis, as whole rows need to be cleared simultaneously.
Data Transfer Speed
Every story or take about SSDs usually features an attention-grabbing number or two of their ultra-fast write speeds. We read about sequential writes of huge files averaging around 500-600MBps for SATA drives and even more for PCIe 3.x types. There’s no denying that these are remarkable results, but users should note that these figures normally describe performances under the best conditions the device can be put through.
With a mechanical drive, this would involve the read/write mechanisms moving in discrete steps between multitudes of exact positions over the disc’s spinning surface, leading to successive lags in the fetching of data scattered all over. An SSD without moving parts is far more suited by nature to this type of random-access operation and the actual improvements in total performance are mainly in its electronic design.
Thus you won’t fully experience the best performance an SSD is capable of unless you’re doing a long series of system backups or copies of large media files between drives. A really big multi-gigabyte video will really move along quickly, but not necessarily a massive collection of JPG or MPfiles or lots of saved HTML page elements all running in the thousands, never mind the contents of a steamapps folder. These tasks can involve many chunks distributed throughout your storage partitions and directories, which in practice will take much longer to copy or move around than large monolithic files.
As an added consideration, certain SSD models process compressed files with less efficiency than normal types. This was a big issue with Sandforce’s earlier controllers which were found on the first generations of flash storage devices. The quicker transfer rates involved with uncompressed formats were the figures usually presented by the marketers whenever speeds varied between file types. These numbers are more satisfying to remember, but if you’re a serious enthusiast you’re not going to default to this set of nicer results when evaluating a device’s performance in full.
IOPS or input/output operation per second usually describes the performances of SSDs and is normally found in their specs, but the measure’s relationship to actual usage is not so straightforward. It’s most useful in describing the number of distinct file-handling instructions that can be managed at any given time. It does nothing, however, to value the differences, as all are treated equally. But users know that manipulating a small 1KB configuration document is a different thing from moving 64KB clusters of a multi-gigabyte video.
The conventional agreement is for manufacturers to present the QD34KB block-size metric, or the IOPS measured with thirty-two 4KB read/write instructions in the queue. But actual application programs won’t always be issuing so many 4KB commands at all times, and the ongoing pipeline will normally feature a chaotic mix of different-sized read/write blocks as well as non-active sequences during idle periods. With highly randomized operations such as during OS start-ups, when many files from various driver and application subsystems are being queued for processing, this specification will be critical. Otherwise, various factors come into play at various times and for different mixes of file types.
Things to Keep in Mind Before Setup
If your picture frame uses a memory card, place the card in the memory card reader attached to your computer. Insert the external drive/card into the digital frame and follow the previous step to move your images.
To transfer photos wirelessly, connect to the same network that the device is on. If the frame is Bluetooth-enabled you will be able to upload pictures from a smartphone or Bluetooth ready computer/tablet.
Office Desk Configurations
When selecting a desk configuration, it is important to take into account your room capacity, work requirements, and the impression you would like to impart on your clients, or whomever may be sitting on the other side of your desk.
Also, consider how your business or responsibilities may expand in the future, and try to choose a desk that can grow with you for years to come.
Single Desk
The single desk is comprised of one work surface, usually with a rectangular shape. This acts as the main desk piece in all other configurations.
There are many single desk styles to choose from, each with advantages for different types of work.
U-Shaped Desks
U-Shaped Desks generally include a main desk, bridge, and a credenza (detailed below). These pieces fit together to create a U-shape.
These desks are common among professionals and executives who need a large amount of storage or surface space. Additional pieces like a hutch, bookcase, or lateral filing cabinets can be added to these configurations with ease.
Executive Desks
These types of desks allow you to enter or exit your desk chair from either side of the desk, without sacrificing too much functionality.
Main Desk Size
The Main Desk is generally where most of the work gets done. It is the forward-most part of any desk configuration and comes in a variety of different styles. This piece should have the most depth, to ensure you have ample leg room when sitting. Of course, if you are looking for a single desk, the Main Desk is the only piece to be concerned with.
Desk Return
A desk return is an extension that can be added to the main desk to create an L-shaped desk. This piece only extends to the floor on one side, and is usually has a narrower depth than your main desk. When ordering from BridgeCreek Office, you can choose to place the return on the left or right side of your desk.
Office Desk Materials
While it is important to find a desk that offers the functionality you need, it is also important to ensure that your desk can withstand the test of time. Below, we have detailed the most common desk materials and what to look for when making your purchase decision.
Solid Wood
Solid wood desks can be a great solution that can last a lifetime. They can be painted or stained, and can be used to create a traditional, rustic environment in your home or office.
Metal desks are commonly used in manufacturing or industrial settings. They are the most durable types of desks available and are mostly scratch-proof and easy to clean. BusinessKnowHow suggests the best way to determine the quality of a metal desk is to feel the overall weight.
Glass provides a very classy, stain-resistance surface but it can be susceptible to fingerprints and of course, breaking.
Ergonomics
For many, finding a desk or chair that is designed around ergonomics is essential to their well-being at work. In the long run, this type of furniture can help prevent issues with posture, Carpal tunnel, or a variety of other aches and pains.
Grommet Holes
Grommet holes, usually a plastic or rubber ring placed into a strategically-cut hole on the top of your desk, allow for cables and cords to pass through with ease. This helps to organize your desk area and keep multiple cords from tangling or creating a mess.

Wheels For File Cabinet
Manilla suspension files are common in most offices as they offer a high quality yet cost effective filing solution. Made from heavyweight paper, these manilla files are strong enough to hold multiple documents at once and are designed to be durable. Available in packs of 2or 50 files, they usually include tabs and card inserts to allow you to easily identify each file’s contents.
Plastic Suspension Files
Manufactured from polypropylene, plastic suspension files are extremely strong and will generally last longer than manilla suspension files. They can be used in most filing cabinets with a suspension filing system and are available in a wide range of colours to help you colour code your documents. Plastic suspension files also come in v-base or square base styles and come in packs of 2files.
Kraft Suspension Files
Kraft paper suspension files are similar to manilla files but are made with enhanced strength kraft paper. This card-quality material is extremely difficult to rip and feature a laminated reinforced base to provide extra strength and durability. As with manilla suspension files, premium quality kraft files are usually supplied with tabs and card inserts for labelling. They also have a wrap-over bar design to protect fingers and are available in different colours in v-base or square base styles.

Obtain the replacement drawer head either through your dealer or direct from Fireking. To remove the damaged drawer head, open the drawer and remove the lock, first remove the screw (A) as detailed in Figure Insert the key into the lock and turn the key to the open position. Pull the lock from the drawer head and then pull the spring and the cap from the lock housing. Remove the side screws (B) on the back of the drawer front. Loosen, but don’t remove, the two screws (C) on the upper rear of the drawer head. Pulling straight up, remove the damaged drawer head. To install the new drawer head, carefully slide the replacement onto the drawer front, as shown in Figure Snug the two upper screws (C). Align the drawer head so that it does not hit or rub the file body when the drawer is closed, then tighten the upper screws (C) fully. It may be necessary to drill new side holes (D) close by the existing holes, before inserting and tightening the four side screws (B).
Wirecutter Staff
Your home office should be a place where you feel comfortable doing your best work day after day. A team of work-from-home veterans spent more than 150 hours researching and testing equipment for a variety of workspaces and picked out a selection of great gear, including things that many of us use daily in our own home offices.
Our pick
Modern and lean container stands up straight, lets your trash breathe, and works with or without a bag.
However, if you’re looking to do heavy-duty shredding and get through bigger piles of paper faster, our upgrade pick, the Fellowes 100% Jam Proof Shredder 73Ci, may be a better option.
Eufy Lumos ADesk Lamp
One of the best combinations of brightness, color temperature, and minimal glare, the Ais also widely adjustable and surprisingly affordable.
Along with natural daylight, dimmable ceiling lighting, and (if needed) freestanding lamps, a good desk lamp helps to provide layered, multidirectional lighting, which reduces eyestrain and irritation. Multiple, adjustable office lights reduce the contrast between the light on the object you are focused on and the surrounding area, allowing for detailed focus and the prevention of headaches. Adjustable desk lamps can make you more active and productive with cool light, or they can calm your mind and help you prepare for sleep after late-night work with warm hues. The link between color temperature and productivity is not concrete, however; some people may prefer warm lighting for long work hours, depending on their temperament and the tasks of their job.
We researched two dozen desk lamps and spent 2hours testing them. In our full guide on LED desk lamps, we recommend the Eufy Lumos ADesk Lamp as the best choice for most people. It has five brightness settings and four color-temperature modes which help make working at home—at any time of the day—a bit more comfortable. Its frosted panel eliminates direct glare and both its head and arm are more adjustable than others that we tested in the same price range. The Lumos’s nonreplaceable bulb promises to shine for 50,000 hours. Overall, we think the Ahas the best balance of style and functionality, at the best price, of all the other lamps we considered.
If you’re willing to spend a little more and are looking for a lamp that’s even brighter and has a broader range between color-temperature settings, consider our upgrade pick, the Eufy Lumos ELED Desk Lamp. Its head and arms pivot and tilt like the A4’s, but this lamp comes equipped with a rotating base that has two USB charging ports. It also has a backlit touch panel that makes it easier to turn on in the dark.
The Duck EZ Start tape dispenses silently.
The Duck EZ Start dispenser is a little confusing to load the first time—the tape goes behind the plastic tabs and in front of the roller—and doesn’t come with directions, but it isn’t too hard to figure out with a quick Google search. Some tapes we tested, such as the Scotch Heavy Duty Shipping Packaging Tape, were extremely loud. The Duck EZ Start tape dispenses silently, which is a nice perk.
